Design High

So-called "design art", with expensive limited edition pieces that push furniture design to the limit, is still thriving despite the recession. Hence, Design High is on show from the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, with new work by Marc Quinn, Pablo Reinoso, Thierry Dreyfus, Vincent Dubourg and Sebastian Brajkovic. Open now until 30 August.

Jerwood Contemporary Makers

Colombianamente: The Coin Street festival

Columbia is in London - for just one afternoon on Sunday 19 July, from 1pm to 7pm. Shimmy to a 12-piece Salsa band, and admire dancers and circus acts. Get stuck into family creative workshops and sample a little craft, with plenty of food and drink on the side. Admission is free.

New Designers

Spot the glittering design stars of the future at the ultimate degree show, when 3,500 graduate exhibitors from 200 courses come together jointly to show off their work. We can enjoy their newly-acquired artistry and expertise, whilst they wait for discovery by manufacturers, retailers and the press.

Part one, from 9 to 12 July, is for textiles, fashion and accessories, contemporary applied arts, ceramics and glass, jewellery and precious metal work.

Part two, from 16 to 19 July, is for product, furniture, graphic and spatial design, and illustration.

Workshop Missoni: Daring to be Different

Zig-stripes in brilliant colours on fine knitwear? It must be Missoni. And now a show celebrating the founders of this famous Italian fashion house has come to London at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art (1 July to 20 September).

Son Luca Missoni reveals the inspirations of his parents Rosita and Ottavio (which included painting art and sculpture), and shares the technical secrets which made these ambitious patterns possible.

His imaginative installation fills three galleries. In the garden, relax on Missoni outdoor furniture, and admire two huge urns covered in Missoni-style mosaic. Entry costs £5; concessions £3.50; children and students free. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Away?

Don't chuck out your rubbish: come and see its creative potential and make a bench yourself from discarded supermarket cardboard. Away? is a travelling open air exhibition, which is part of the City of London Festival.

Summer Fair & Peruvian Fiesta
