London is the world leader for contemporary silver and this summer this precious metal shines all over the city.

Silvermaker

The CAA brings together very different makers of innovative, imaginative but functional metalwork.

Sarah Denny’s vessels are exquisitely made sculptural forms that have an echo of Anish Kapoor yet look wonderful with flowers in them.

Silvermaker until 20 June at CAA Contemporary Applied Arts, 2 Percy Street, W1 (020 7436 2344; www.caa.org.uk).

British Silver Week

Several more traditional silver galleries are displaying the attractions of contemporary silver.

For British Silver Week De Vroomen’s are selling pieces by artists who create very fluid silver with pronounced swirling patterns like Ndidi Ekubia, Miriam Hanid William Lee and Clare Ransom.

B Silverman, usually known for antique silver, is profiling an eclectic mix including Chris Knight’s spiky, edgy tureens, pitchers and drink sets combined with coloured aluminium, Suzi Horan’s corrugated dishes, Sarah Hutchinson flowery containers and Victoria Coleman’s bowls with silver string-like inserts.

British Silver Week (www.britishsilverweek.co.uk). Galleries include De Vroomen until 24 June, 59 Elizabeth Street, SW1 (0207 730 1901; www.devroomen.co.uk) and B Silverman until 20 June, 4 Campden Street, W8 (020 7985 0555; www.silverman-london.com).
