From Thonet’s classic iconic bentwood chair to Tom Dixon’s S Chair and Ineke Hans’s contemporary Ordinairy [sic] tables and chairs that look like rough-hewn wood, but are in fact made from recycled plastic - it is interesting to see which designs have held their place in history and which just look daft, not to mention uncomfortable.

There is a useful directory, too, of where to buy them, at auction and from shops.
